About
Fleet Racing Products is a small design and integration company located in Penfield New York, USA,
just south of Lake Ontario. Fleet Racing Products was incorporated to commercialize the RS1, a starting systems,
to provide a more autonomous start sequence. The staff at FRP draws on their combined sailboat racing,
manufacturing and engineering experience to make a product designed to meet the needs of
the race committee and racers.
Backstory
So I belong to a rather small yacht club on Lake Ontario called Pultneyville
Yacht Club. At the time we did round robin committee boat duty, where a boat was
supposed to give up racing that day to start the race for the rest of the fleet.
With everyone essentially doing it once, to say we had consistent starting sequences, would be a bit of a stretch.
I had ended up doing committee boat several times in a row as my regular crew (my
wife) was unavailable due to pregnancy. So I was sitting out there with the Fleet
Captain starting another race when in a flash I realized that I can make a machine
to start races! And thus the concept was born. We wanted a truly autonomous system,
so thus the need to be remotely started and display flags. This differentiates FRP’s
RS1 from the competition.

Supporting Organizations
Organizations that have provide support during the design, development and manufacturing
stages of this project. Having the internet, design tools and component models makes
product development a more exact process, providing higher quality, reasonably priced
products to the customer.
